Guten morgen…..

  4. roussou September 3, 2010

Erwin…. das war ein Notfall. Muss doch schließlich informiert sein, was die Herren da so treiben. Ausserdem bin ich total NEIDISCH, dass die Männer da noch herumliegen dürfen. Ich will auch.

Sitting here now – in my livingroom – on the 12th September… in Germany, looking through my window…. my garden in a wet wet grey rainy day… and then looking through the web cam AEGIALI BEACH… I could cry. It´s very hard to understand that on Amorgos you can still go to swimm and to feel and smell summer…..

  6. Well done on the new five second updates on the webcam. Now even the Kenteris can’t sneak in and out without being seen.

  7. roussou September 28, 2010

Oh my god… Is that live ??? Can´t believe it… So nice and sunny and NOT WET…. What am I doing here in Germany ????

Wow! Just checked the cam for the first time in several weeks. Thank you, whoever reoriented it to show the port. We just sat here in late evening Port Townsend, WA and watched the Blue Star leave our beloved Egiali at 0700 (well, okay, it was a little late – maybe 0705). It makes the distance somehow less to know that we’re seeing “our” island real time!

  9. Bradley January 29, 2011

No sooner did I discover the newly redirected web cam than it stopped refreshing. It’s been two weeks now – does anybody know if/when it will start refreshing again? Many thanks for this feature; I value it highly!

  10. erwin January 30, 2011

dear bradley, thank you for your comment on the webcam. at the moment we are working on the problem with the cam but people who could fix the problem are not on the island at the moment. so, we hope get the cam working as soon as possible. we are sorry for this.

To the team in control of the webcam I would like to suggest that you add the webcam to windfinder.com

This sight is used by thousands of people and can only enhance the reputation of Amorgos.

The URL required for the page to add the webcam is http://www.windfinder.com/webcams/add.htm

webcam is working now properly again. despite the amorgian network infrastructure looks quite well, occasionally network discontinuities occour – at this time the webcam picture may not be refreshed every 5 seconds.

Hi Erwin I just checked the link it does not work now . It has been changed since February.
First you sign up for an account then login and go to http://www.windfinder.com/user/webcams/create
You must add a link on your site to http://www.windfinder.com or their connection will fail to see this site.
If I could I would do it for you:)
    Mike

hi mike, i added our amorgos webcam already in february to windfinder and i can find it on windfinder.com. see: http://www.windfinder.com/webcams/detailed/2777.htm

    Hi Erwin,

    The site is looking good,

I received an email from Dr. Kostas Lagouvardos, National Observatory of Athens
    Institute for Environmental Research.

See below. If you are interested in hosting a weather station you can contact Kostas with the details at the end of this message. Good luck if you decide to proceed with this.

    Dear Michael

Thanks for your e-mail. In fact, weather forecasts do no use local weather stations, but instead they are generated by computer models that reconstruct the atmopsheric circulation and solve equations that govern the atmospheric motions etc.

The idea of installing a weather station in Amorgos sounds good, we already possess 180 automatic stations, that provide local information.
Station measurements cannot help to improve the forecasts, but they are valuable since they help us to monitor the weather conditions over an area.

So if you have contacts with people that could host such a station, keep
    us informed.

    Kind regards
    Kostas Lagouvardos

    Hi Erwin.
Good luck with the weather station. I think that every little helps in today’s economic climate to publicise and share our Beautiful island.
I would bring to your attention two other small items.
Question (1) Is there a way of changing the log in user name/ID to something a little more user friendly.
Question(2) I am looking out towards Nikouria from Lagkada and I can see many high waves even at this distance. The web cam shows today’s date I cannot see the time all appears as calm and flat. Is this the angle of the cam or the detail involved? Best Regards Mike

    Kalimera sass
Is the webcam “live” at this time? The picture is so still it seems unreal but still beautiful.
Egiali and Amorgos is one of our favourite Greek Islands.
